Pink Strokes is a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness and assist in providing information and support to young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Some of the present myths of breast cancer: This website is dedicated to:
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2002 at the age of 32, I was in the midst of making so many plans for my future. My husband Marty and I were blessed with the birth of our little boy, Tyler in 1999 and we were expecting another baby in February 2003. Sadly, I miscarried at 3 months in August 2002. We had just moved into our bigger brand new home with extra bedrooms to fill. The next year of my life was dedicated to treatment in hopes of beating this demon. As I went through chemotherapy I searched for other women to talk to in the community that could relate to what I was going through. I tried to gather information that pertained to the pre-menopausal woman diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease – but in both cases I came up short. There were no readily available answers to my questions regarding fertility and pregnancy. Genetic testing was something I’d heard of but didn’t know enough about. I wondered everyday how my young son could relate to what was going on and to this day still ponder the thought of him growing up without me. I have to say that my diagnosis changed our lives and we have come to realize the importance of fulfilling every day. I know how important it is to know that you are not alone. Please feel free to contact us with any recommendations regarding this site. Hope and Hugs. Allison
